We manufacture window well covers in Calgary and ship them to every province and territory in Canada. Steel and aluminum, 42 sizes, cut to sit on the wells we roll in the same plant. Nothing is imported, nothing crosses a border to reach you, and nothing is quoted in US dollars.
That matters more than it sounds. Most window well covers sold in Canada are made for the American market and sized to American wells. If the cover does not match the well, it either sits proud of the lip where snow can push it off, or it drops inside and stops being a cover at all.
Why buying Canadian actually changes the product
A cover sold into Canada has to carry snow. Ours are built expecting it: welded frames, expanded steel or aluminum mesh, and a slope that sheds water away from the foundation rather than pooling it against the window.
- No cross-border cost. No duty, no brokerage, no exchange rate on the invoice.
- Sized to Canadian wells, because we make the wells too.
- Freight is charged once per order, so a cover ordered with its well ships for the same price as the well alone.
- Snow load taken seriously, which is not a design priority for a cover built for Texas.
Steel or aluminum
Galvanized steel is the stronger and cheaper frame, and it ships from stock. It is the right answer for a cover that goes on and stays on.
Aluminum is lighter, which matters if the cover comes off regularly, and it will not rust. It is made to order, so allow four to five weeks. Over a wide span, the weight difference is what you notice when you lift it.
The polycarbonate option
Mesh alone keeps out leaves, gravel and anybody who might step into the well. Adding a clear polycarbonate sheet keeps rain and fine snow out as well, without cutting the daylight reaching the basement window. On the coast and anywhere with wind-driven rain, it is the difference between a dry well and a standing one.
Covers on an egress well
If the well serves a bedroom egress window, the cover has to lift off from inside the well without tools and without special knowledge. A cover bolted down over an egress window defeats the reason the well is there. Confirm the arrangement with your building department before you fit it.
Shipping covers across Canada
Shipping is a flat $189.99 CAD per order to any address in Canada, charged once per order rather than per item. It is the same rate whether you are in Calgary or in Newfoundland — only the transit time changes. Pickup at the Calgary plant is free.
Because the rate does not scale with quantity, ordering covers together with wells, or ordering a whole house at once, costs no more in freight than a single item.
Common questions
Are these window well covers made in Canada?
Yes. They are manufactured at our own plant in southeast Calgary, from steel and aluminum, and shipped direct across Canada.
Will a cover fit a well I already own?
Covers are sized by width and projection, the two numbers that describe the top of the well. Measure the opening of the existing well and match those. If it falls between sizes, we will quote a custom cover.
Can a cover hold snow load?
Steel frames carry more than aluminum, which is the main trade against aluminum being easier to lift. Clear heavy accumulation rather than leaving a season of snow sitting on any cover.
Do covers block the light?
Mesh passes most of it. Clear polycarbonate over the mesh passes light while stopping rain, so a covered well need not be a dark one.
How much does shipping a cover cost?
A flat $189.99 CAD per order to any address in Canada, charged once per order rather than per item. Pickup in Calgary is free.
Sizing and code guidance here is general. Confirm egress requirements with your municipal building department before ordering.
