Shop Window Wells Inc. is a sheet metal manufacturer in southeast Calgary. Steel arrives at our shop as flat galvanized coil and leaves as a finished window well. We are not a distributor, not a reseller, and not a storefront for somebody else's factory.
That distinction is worth caring about, because almost everyone else selling window wells in Canada is one of those three things.
What manufacturing directly changes for you
- No distributor markup. There is one business between the coil and your driveway, and it is us.
- 213 sizes held in stock, because we make them rather than order them in. Galvanized sizes ship in one to two business days.
- Custom sizes are a quote, not a refusal. Any width, projection or height we can roll, we will roll.
- We control the specification. 20-gauge G-90 galvanized steel, a 2″ pitch corrugation, a folded safety lip along the top edge and pre-punched 2″ mounting flanges, on every well.
- Powder coating happens in-house, not sent out and waited on.
How a well is actually made
The coil is cut to width, then roll-formed so the corrugation runs the height of the well. The corrugation is what carries the backfill load; a flat sheet of the same gauge would bow. The top edge is folded back on itself into a safety lip, which stiffens the rim and removes the cut edge. The side flanges are formed and punched so the well can be bolted to the foundation.
Nothing about that is exotic. It is ordinary sheet metal work done properly, which is exactly why the gauge and the corrugation profile matter more than branding does.
Buying from the manufacturer as a contractor
Freight is charged once per order rather than per item, so a builder fitting a whole subdivision ships a truckload for the price of a single well. We quote trade pricing and staged delivery for anyone ordering regularly. Pickup at the plant is free and orders are usually ready within 24 hours.

Galvanized steel window wells from 36″ to 96″ wide, in projections from 12″ to 36″ and heights from 12″ to 42″. The same sizes in gloss black powder coat. Galvanized steel and aluminum covers to match. Custom dimensions on request.
Common questions
Do you actually manufacture, or resell?
We manufacture. The plant is at 7042-30 St SE, Calgary, and the wells are formed there from flat coil.
Can you build a size that is not listed?
Yes. Send the width, projection and height and we will quote it. That is the practical advantage of buying from the shop that owns the rollformer.
Do you sell to contractors and builders?
Yes. Ask about trade pricing and staged delivery. Because freight is per order, consolidating a job into one shipment is usually the cheapest way to buy.
What steel do you use?
20-gauge G-90 galvanized, which is the coating weight that matters for corrosion in ground contact.
Do you ship outside Alberta?
To every province and territory in Canada. Shipping is a flat $189.99 per order to any address in Canada, charged once per order rather than per item.
