Construction in Sherbrooke is governed by the Code de construction du Québec, administered by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec. If you are finishing a basement and adding a bedroom, the egress requirement comes from that code, not from the national one.
What shapes a window well in Sherbrooke is Eastern Townships hill country with a deep frost line. It is roughly 3,860 km by road from our plant to Sherbrooke, which is why freight runs $324.00 CAD and transit 2 to 15 business days.
Nothing here is drop-shipped. Wells bound for Sherbrooke are rolled, corrugated and flanged in our Calgary plant, then either collected or put on a truck the same week.
Delivery to Sherbrooke
Freight to Quebec is $324.00 CAD, charged once per order rather than per item, with transit of 2 to 15 business days after the build time. Galvanized sizes leave the shop in one to two business days; gloss black powder coat is finished to order and adds one to two weeks.
Ce que demande le code
The Quebec construction code governs the opening and the clearance in front of a basement bedroom window. Confirm the current requirement with the Régie du bâtiment du Québec or your municipal building department in Sherbrooke before ordering.
Winter loading
Snow load on a cover matters here. A steel frame carries more than aluminum, which is the trade against aluminum being lighter to lift off.
Getting the three numbers right
Width first, along the wall, with clearance past the opening on each side. Then projection, straight out from the foundation. Then height, from finished grade to the base of the excavation. An existing hole governs the size more than the window does, so measure the hole if there is one.
If you are replacing rather than installing new, measure the window and the excavation, not the existing steel. Decades in the ground change a well's dimensions.
Common questions from Sherbrooke
How much does shipping a window well to Sherbrooke cost?
Freight to Quebec is $324.00 CAD per order, not per item, and transit runs 2 to 15 business days on top of the build time. Because it is charged per order, several wells ship for the same price as one.
Can I get a size that is not listed?
Yes. We manufacture in our own shop, so any width, projection or height is possible. Send the three measurements and we will quote it for delivery to Sherbrooke.
Do you deliver to Sherbrooke?
Yes. We ship to every province and territory in Canada. Delivery is curbside on a liftgate truck and somebody needs to be there to receive it.
What does Sherbrooke require for a basement bedroom window?
The governing document is the Code de construction du Québec, administered locally through your municipal building department. A 30 inch projection gives 762 mm of clearance in front of the window. The window itself has its own opening requirement, so confirm both before you order.
The numbers above reflect the national code and common local practice. They are not a ruling on your property. Your building department in Sherbrooke, working under Régie du bâtiment du Québec, has the final say.
