An aluminum cover sized to sit over a 54″ X 30″ window well: mesh in a welded aluminum frame, light enough for one person to lift clear and set back down.
Aluminum is the choice where the cover comes off often, or where a steel frame would be more weight than the well needs. It will not rust, and it holds its line over a wide span. Covers carry two dimensions only — width and projection — because they sit flat across the top of the well.
Polycarbonate option
A clear polycarbonate sheet fixes to the frame and keeps rain and fine debris out as well, without cutting the light.
